YORKETOWN FIRE UPDATE

ISSUED FOR Yorketown, Edithburgh, Coobowie, Troubridge Point and Port Giles on Lower Yorke Peninsula

CFS advises that a reduced threat was issued for the Yorketown fire late Thursday afternoon.

The fire front has been halted and is now contained, however patches of fire remain burning inside the fireground and smoke may be visible.

Firefighting resources will remain on scene to continue to extinguish hotspots and secure control lines.

In order to ensure the safety of firefighters, residents and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.

Property owners in the fire affected area are advised that hazards may be present such as smoke, dust, falling trees, reduced visibility and emergency services and other vehicles operating in the area.

For people with issues relating to their animals and livestock contact the PIRSA Hotline on 1800 255 556.

An Emergency Relief Centre is located at the Stansbury Bowling Club, 19 Weaver Street, Stansbury. Anyone that is displaced by this fire, unsure whether they can go home or otherwise affected by this fire is encouraged to register at the relief centre to seek assistance.

Members of the public are advised to report any active fire to Triple Zero (000).
