CFS crews have responded to a crop and stubble fire 4 kilometres north-east of Maitland on the central Yorke Peninsula. Ground crews supported by fire bombing aircraft have focused their efforts on protecting assets on the edge of the township. The fire has been burning under Severe conditions - high winds associated with low relative humidity.

A Reduced Threat Message issued at 11:55 has recently downgraded the level of warning for this incident. An Emergency Warning Message along with Emergency Alerts both - text and voice messages were previously issued for Maitland and areas south of the township.

CFS crews have secured the fire's perimeter and the forward rate of spread has been halted. Crews will remain in the area monitoring the situation until the incident is deemed safe. Conditions remain difficult for firefighting and as such some risk remains from this incident. Additional crews are being deployed to this area.
